Harrill - The Hermit 19x13
The
Fort Fisher Hermit lived in an
abandoned sea-side military bunker from
1955 to 1972. He was an unusual hermit in that he
encouraged the public to visit. He would teach an
informal class on "common
sense" to anyone that would attend. As a very
little boy, I remember my daddy holding me in his
arms as we talked to Mr. Harrill. There are many books
and an excellent
film about his life. The text in this image was derived from
Mr. Harrill's handwriting.
